The idea was to place an ordinary modern household inside the mood of a classical painting, especially the kind that makes daily life feel faintly ominous. Each member of the household is scavenging in a different way, looking for whatever can be claimed before the day ends. The mother became the counterweight to all of it, trying to keep the household from coming apart. The inspiration came from seeing domestic life as its own dusk ritual, with one person holding everything together while every creature in the house needs something.
